For most, memorial day mean the pools will open, friends head to Dewey, families will have BBQ's, the school year ends and the summer begins.
For me, it mean a little more than that. My husband is an active duty member of the United States Army. He graduated from West Point. He went to Ranger School. He served for 2 years in Iraq. He now instructs college students on how to be great officers and leaders of our country. They respect him- I respect him.
So today, and this weekend, please remember that you have a day off of work because of the men and woman who have served, and who currently serve our country, who have given themselves selflessly to a greater cause and who love our nation and all its citizens.
I won't dote for a long time on this topic, but I will encourage you to thank a service member at some point in your summer celebrations this weekend. Feel free to leave a comment on here for Kev- he is the most selfless person I know and I thank and pray for him and his service to our country everyday.
Whatever you do this weekend, please remember that our freedom is a blessing and one that is protected by those who are called to serve. Remember especially to pray for those who have lost their lives defending that freedom and that this holiday is really about them.
God Bless America.
