They are so fabulous! I think I´m in love, Kate :) Your Mum is so talented :) I love knitting myself, and I wish I could make these on my own!

xx Ivana
You visit Ivana's stylish blog here. I'll email you in a few to you for info, Ivana. Congrats!

On to today, I need your decorating help.
My master bedroom is in sad shape. I mean sad.
Yep, that is all we've got. I swore when we moved to this house I would make sure we had a restful and romantic retreat, but after hanging 3 pictures and 1 mirror, the poor space got put to the wayside once again (we are on master bedroom #3). Since most of the other areas in my house are complete(ish), I figure it is seriously time to put some effort back in to this space.

I'm thinking some symmetrically decorated side tables and a bench for the end of the bed (although, I would kill for that light fixture, ah!)

One of my favorite bedrooms of all time. And I am glad I came back to this one because they have the awkward long wall with only one little window and it doesn't look nearly as sad as mine does. Also, fairly certain I need a pretty tufted chair.

I could keep the room simple, with a big statement blanket.

Or go completely over the top with statement art and a DIY canopy bed?

Or stick to the traditional look and find some pretty art and flowery bedding.

What's your favorite look? And I will take any and all suggestions on how to spruce my room up (on a budget, of course).

Those bedrooms are absolutely gorgeous. I've also never seen anything like that light fixture, it is stunning!

I say start with paint. Then I think you need to go big, as in a big mirror or big art and maybe a big piece of furniture. One big bed with lots of small things around feels uneven. I am no expert though, just my thoughts.

Congrats Ivana!

Why not a big mirror over the bed? One huge thing seems to be what you need...

or you could scavenger hunt for old shutters and just nail one up on the wall! :)

I love all of them! We are also getting ready to work on our master bedroom. I would like to paint it light blue like this:

I would like to have a trunk or antique bench at the end of the bed and also make a little reading/sitting area.

I love the one that is your favorite- it might be my favorite too! I also like the idea of symmetry in the room. can't wait to see what you decide!

If you already have a favorite room, go with that (although that pic is more fun/happy than restful/romantic)- and don't bother with paint if you are in military housing...stick with things that can travel with you. All of your inspiration rooms have scale and symmetry in common. Upgrade your side lamps to something a bit bigger to get the right scale (check out Horchow's sale section). Instead of a side chair, I like the idea of a tufted ottoman at the foot of the bed - storage & seating. To save money, keep your bedding white like in most photos and add a colorful throw blanket, pillows, and maybe even a small area rug if the budget allows. Change up the mirror to something bigger and add frames to the artwork currently on your wall or check out art.com for some prints on canvas to add. Lastly, add a no-sew valance to your window like you did in the farmhouse.

The master bedroom is also where I have trouble decorating. I think it's because no one ever sees it. Like, if you get some awesome new picture, you're going to hang it above the mantle or in the entryway where everyone sees it, right?! The craft I just did (it was posted on my blog this week) was hung on my bedroom wall. I like doing different kinds of monograms for our master bed/bath.

I love the first image, the one with the little window, and the one with the fun blanket most! Your room has good bones- a little paint, fun bedding and some drapes/window treatment would help add to the mood I think, and help the space look more finished!

I am in the same boat girl! Never got it decorated in our old house... and it is the last room to get love in this one too. We are trying to wait to buy a bedroom suite till we buy a house... so I sort of blame it on that... *sigh.

Anyway - I would do a "beach house" look if I were you! Light blue/white with tan accents...it would totally go with the rattan headboard and you live near the beach! Just my 2 cents. Maybe you could find a driftwood mirror?

Also, we found a great little microfiber storage ottoman for the foot of the bed from WALMART of all places a few years back! I found it online and loved it (it was only $100 bucks and they did "direct to store" shipping so I didn't owe anything to ship it! Score!) It's on year #3 and still looks great!
