Weekend Recap: Busy, Busy, Busy

Cullen and I are on the same page today. This is about how much energy I had.
This weekend was an unintentionally busy one. Friday afternoon, we did get to enjoy some beautiful weather and spent a good amount of time on the back patio.

Friday night, we went to a family friend's house for dinner, came home and put the boys to bed and caught up on TV that we had missed last week (Awake and GCB anyone?). Then Saturday we hung out with some friends during the day and had our sitter come that evening so we could go to dinner and see The Hunger Games. My official review: I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I really enjoyed the books, and I realize it is difficult to get every detail in the movies, but I thought the character developments and relationships really suffered. I love the way they portrayed the Capital and the arena, but I didn't feel emotionally connected to the characters like I did in the book. Kev did not read the book and had a million questions on the way home because so much of it just didn't make sense. Have you ever seen a movie that was better than the book?

On to Sunday, we had an unexpected, but welcomed, visit from our friend Ginna and Tyler. We knew them back when we were stationed in NC, but for the past 3 years, they have been in Alaska. They are en route to Missouri for Tyler's next assignment and decided to pit stop in Monterey for a night to see us. It was great to see them and meet their sweet baby, Caroline.
Cullen actually woke Bennett up from his nap and said, "Bubba, spit your paci out! Your baby girlfriend is here!" I should probably be concerned that he is giving Bennett advice about girls already...

We took The VZ'a down into Monterey for a little walk and wine.
And attempted one more picture of the kids in the morning.
It didn't go as well as planned.
But one thing that we love about being in the Army, is that you always seem to know someone where ever you go. Hope the rest of your travels go well, Ginna and Tyler! Be sure to pop over to Ginna's blog to see the rest of their trip.

How's your week going?

Sounds like a busy but good weekend! I've been run down with a head cold and allergies but am hoping they go away soon.

Movies better than books: Atonement. Although I did see the movie first, which could make the difference. :)

A girl in my class is concerned about me because, after many long discussions about The Hunger Games (yes, she's 10), she doesn't understand why I'm "Team Gale". :) Anyway, after the whole Twilight debacle (that's still not over), I don't have a lot of faith in movies based on books.

Hahaha look at those pics, too cute :)
That's so nice you got to see your friends!
We have been to Monterey and we think it is absolutely beautiful there. Hard to believe you are lucky enough to live there! Such a pretty part of the Californian coastline.
We stayed in an awesome little hotel called Casa Munras which had the best beds EVER!! We also took the kids to Dennis the Mennace Play Park which was great.
Thanks for your comment on my post, I am sure there will be updates on my progress.
Happy April!!

That's fantastic to have support wherever you are, what a blessing! and how fun to catch up. You guys looked like you had a wonderful time! I still need to read the Hunger Games books. I'm so behind!! And I love your outfit in the last picture!

Sounds like a fun weekend!
I agree about Hunger Games...I think that you really had to have read the books to completely understand a lot of it. I think books are ALWAYS better than the movie! But it is still fun to see how they try to do them.

Hah love that first pic! My kiddo actually fell asleep sitting up today! It was so funny! Oh and I enjoyed the Hunger Games, but I agree with you about the character development. Something was just missing! Missed Madge in the movie too.

AWWW, the kids look amazing and it seems you all had a busy and fun weekend! I have yet to watch the Hunger Games. Don't really know what to expect as I have not read the books yet, but will let you know my verdict once I do! x

Haha I love these! T and I are watching Awake and we're really in to it. I think it's such a neat idea for a show...I wonder if it will ever be revealed or if they will drag it out, LOST style. :) Happy Tuesday!! xoxo, e
