Weekend in VA #2

Hello from The Farm.
It is hard to believe, but our second of 5 weekends on the East Coast has come and gone. Last Thursday and Friday, I took off solo to visit our previous home in Winston-Salem, NC and I will re-cap that amazing trip tomorrow. I returned in time to put my boys to bed Friday night and headed to bed early to prepare for the busy weekend ahead.

On Saturday morning, we went to the flea market to find some accessories for the boys' playhouse, but came back instead with a $5 bike for Cullen. The first Uncle to arrive for the weekend was Uncle Tommy, so he was tasked with teaching C how to ride.

Bennett, although too little to learn to pedal, found a pile of sawdust and went to town. He is so easily amused.
Later, my brothers showed off their biking skills. The sister in me was impressed, the mother in me was terrified.

Since C was getting plenty of attention from Uncles, my dad decided to take Bennett for a ride on the tractor. B is still a quite unsure whether or not this is a fun adventure.
Cullen is fairly certain the tractor is his and Papa's special place and 'Bubba's not a-supposed tos haves a turn'. Have you ever seen such a face?
Eventually, the 90 degree weather brought us inside for a cool down, but with Uncles around, it was really just time for indoor horseplay.

Back outside, the playhouse continues to be a favorite spot.
Cullen loves to 'cook' for anyone who comes in, so for lunch I had a felt sandwich and a big ol glass of chardonnay. I'm pretty sure he is judging my lack of make-up, but Saturday's out here don't lend themselves to much glamour.
In order to makes amends for coming to his restaurant so casual, I gifted C some pillows I picked up in Winston. They are the perfect size and color and he was pleased with the addition.
The rest of the weekend involved some pool time, reading Sarah's Key, front porch sittin', going for two runs, racing Uncle JoJo and Dylan,
 cuddling with Marme and Papa,
eating the head off an action figure,
 riding the 4-wheeler,
 and swinging with Marme.
When it was time for bed, Cullen ran to hide so he wouldn't have to go in.
Can you blame him?

Those photos are absolutely stunning. And those tears? Oh, melt my heart! I want to come hang out with you and ride one of those tractor thingamajigs too. That's the downside of city living - no room to do crazy stuff. (maybe that's a good thing for me!)

Fun weekend!

OH! That picture of Cullen and his tears! That face... Oh, that sweet little face. Don't you just know that feeling of thinking something like riding the tractor with your grandpa is yours and yours alone? So sweet.

And as far as that action figure Bennett ate... He probably had it coming (the action figure that is)

I just love these photos :)

First off someone needs to have a talking with your brother that flip flops are unacceptable on a 4-wheeler!!! I mean seriously!?!?!? No shirt? Apparently he likes the thought of road rash or losing a toe. ;) LOL I love how much fun your brothers have with your kids. So cute!!! =)
