Hello, Friends and Happy Friday! Sorry I haven't been around too much this week. I know I am far behind on reading your blogs and I haven't posted on my normal schedule, but East Coast life is busy. In case you missed it yesterday, my mom has posted some updates of our visit from her point of view and they are definitely worth checking out.
After another great weekend, we spent the early part of the week at The Farm before heading back to DC Wednesday afternoon. We went straight to the shop so the boys could play, and if you are following me on instagram (katedaffodils) then you already know what happened there.
Wednesday night, my awesome parents offered to watch the boys so I could go hang out with my brothers, grill out and have some beers. We had a great time relaxing on my older brother's front porch and enjoying the balmy June weather (you must remember that in Monterey, there it is too cold for front porch sittin'. I am embracing it at every opportunity while we are here).
Thursday morning, the boys and I headed down to my grandparents' house to play for a few hours. I know how blessed I am that C and B know so many great grandparents, so whenever we are home, I always try to spend individual time so the boys really know them. We hadn't been to my Oma and Opa's since Christmas, but C still knew exactly where the toys were, where the candy box was and how to turn on the organ.
Meanwhile, Bennett played several rounds of 'hopa-hopa rider' (a German poem) with Oma.
I keep pics of the boys with their great grandparents in our playroom, so it was time for an updated version.
After some long naps in the car, it was back to the shop where Cullen helped Uncle Tommy change an air filter.
And Bennett relaxed with Uncle JoJo
And then eventually found out that Cullen had a belly button.
As we were getting ready to head out from the shop, a train was pulling away, so naturally we had to run and wave. C was SO excited when the driver blew the whistle and waved back.
Next was a trip to the bank. This, in my book (and in the boys') is incredibly exciting. You see, I loved my bank. I never got direct deposit because I looked forward to cashing my check at Burke & Herbert in Old Town every other Friday. Growing up, it was always a contest to see who got to go to the bank with my dad on Sunday morning. When Kev and I merged into accounts, I was sad, not because we were sharing our funds (clearly, I was the one making out in that deal) but because I illegitimately missed my bank. Now we do everything online and the boys had never physically been to one until this trip. Once they found out there were free lollipops, C has asked my mom everyday if it is time to go to the bank yet. It makes me happy.
Of course, part of the bank's allure might also be the toy store around the corner where Cullen so easily persuades my mom to visit. I just needs a show you some-fing Mar-me. And five new toys later...
We ended Thursday with cocktail hour
and some games with Papa
And now it is on to the weekend. Friday night I have dinner with my high school girlfriends (you know, these ones) and then Kev gets in at midnight. I.can't.wait.

That train picture is just too much and I love how out of all things, going to the bank is so highly regarded. And I"m not being sarcastic. It's seriously sweet.

I used to LOVE when my dad took me to the bank. I even had my own account register book that I had to keep track of my own money. I also loved going in to the safe-deposit box room So mysterious! Sounds like a lovely weekend!
