Oh Good, A Happy Post!

Friends, sometimes I just don't know what to say.
Your support from letting you in on the big changes that have happened around here in the last few weeks was genuinely overwhelming.
And to those who thanked me for the 'reminder' or the 'perspective' of what our military families today are still facing, I appreciate your comments. When I told Kev that I was struggling with whether or not I should even share the last two posts, we both decided that they were not only important for us as part of our family story, but also because my blog is public and I can be a voice for others families who might not have an outlet like this one.
I can't tell you the number of times I was asked "We are still sending people there?!" in the past several months. But the answer is yes, we are, and if not 'there', then many other places around the globe that are experiencing conflict. Deployment is still very real in today's military, and even though it is a life we signed up for, your prayers and support for the troops is as important as ever.

*****

Okay, back to the lighthearted Daffodils posts you all know and love.

We went to the farm this weekend! Pictures! Yay!
The last few times we have facetimed with Kev, he has asked if Wells' hair has gone down.
The obvious answer is no, but two more teeth have shown up!

When I think of the summers of my childhood, I remember being outdoors.
From after breakfast until it was time for bed- we were outside. My mom and Dad taught us early on that we should go outside and explore.
With all the distractions of today's world, I think a lot of children miss out on the freedom of outdoors in the summer.

But not mine... outside they go...
(many thanks to my parents for providing them a world of wonder)

 Wells with his great grandma
 Wells with his Grandma

I really don't enjoy having a dog, but after seeing him jump in after the boys when no adults were in the pool...I almost like him (almost).

And after all that time outdoors, we weren't done yet, because we drove back into NOVA, jumped in the lake with Pop
and sang Happy Birthday to Nana!

As parents, we wish nothing more than for our children's young lives to magical.

I am so grateful that my boys are experiencing life that way.

Send Frankie to me! He can come single with me again :) Is it wrong to hope Wells' hair never goes down? It's just too good (though I can't imagine that will make his teenage years any easier… no matter, we're not letting him grow up anyway, right? Stay a sweet chubby baby forever, tiny one!) And that pic of the boys with Kev's dad is an instant classic!

Your kids are having a magical childhood. There's nothing better than getting a daily dose of fresh air and sunshine (and swimming and farm animals too). Keep on being the amazing mom you are, (and please know that you and your wonderful family are in my prayers).

I think I need to be adopted into the family. ;) The farm, sigh... Looks like sooooo much fun! My Grandparents (IL) use to have a farm house with a pool and it was always so much fun. They still have the old school house which you have probably seen pictures of. ;) xoxo Just too far though.

Magical indeed. Love that picture of the dog! I guess I didn't even realize ya'll had one! Just another thing for you to take care of, but I'm sure the boys love him! :)

You sure do give your kids a super fun summer! Oh why don't you like your dog? We don't have one but I'm just curious.

Looks like a wonderful weekend! Yay for more teeth for Wells! Your boys are so cute and I agree that boys just want to be outside so we should let them be. I am surprised that so many people were surprised that troops are still being deployed. I guess because I live (and my husband works) at Ft. Campbell, KY, we know that the Army is still very busy and we are still very much engaged in other parts of the world, but mainly still Afghanistan.

Yes to outside. Yes yes yes.

I love all the photos (duh), but that silhouette photo is amazeballs.

I ADORE your family's farm. It's amazing! And that pool overlooking the rolling hills - just so breathtaking.
Every picture of Wells with his fuzzy hair makes me want to reach through the computer and run my hand across his head, haha! Love him so much :)
I didn't realize that you guys have a dog too - you really do have your hands full! My kids (and husband) have been begging for a dog but I just don't feel as though I'm ready to care for another being. I LOVE dogs, but right now it wouldn't get the attention it deserves (from me at least, and we all know I'd be the one caring for it, really!).
So happy for your happy weekend :)

isn't it wonderful for your children to have a place like the farm to get away from it all...I adore the weekends that Elyse gets to spend at my parents' house in the country...dirty feet, dirty face, love it all!

What a wonderful place to get away to! :)

Don't worry Frankie - Trenton (almost) likes you too! ;-)

I can't wait to have a warmer summer with a bigger yard for my kids to play in!

Your kids are so lucky being able to spend so much time at the farm. They are making memories that will last a lifetime.

That's funny, my mom actively hates their dog too! Also, I'm up for adoption if you'd like to add a girl to your brood.

I've said this a gazillion times on your blog....but Wells has the most adorable fuzzy hair in the world! I think I would just pet him all day.

They most definitely have a magical childhood! I'm jealous of all that swim time! I so agree with you, I love the outdoors and want my boys to love it too. That's what summer is all about! Also, Wells' hair. Kill me! And that picture of all three of them makes me swoon.

I have loved your blog so much for what seems like so long. But...if you actively HATE your dog...I may have to stop reading. Give him to someone who loves him. Or give him to me!!! Hating dogs is worse than hating children! (And I don't have kids but love my dog like I birthed him. Also, I'm a teacher, so while I do like kids, I'm glad they go home at they end of the day...but I don't actively hate any of them.) :(

OMG Wells. Could he be any cuter?! Your kids are going to look back at their childhood and see how awesome and amazing it was. They are so lucky! Seriously, that pool?!!
