That Time I Told Cullen That It was Okay to Lie a Little Bit

As parents, we do our best to teach our children the basics: don't cheat, don't steal, use kind words, be nice and of course, don't lie. We are so thankful that so far, our boys seem to adhere to these rules and we are do our part to be role models for them...

Well...
that was until I dropped my phone a week ago and didn't want to pay the $100 deductible through our insurance to have it replaced, so instead I decided to go to the Apple Store and first tell them that my phone was acting crazy and hope that they would fix it...
And because Cullen is a big old tattle-tale, I had to inform him that I wasn't going to tell the Apple man that I dropped the phone, so he shouldn't either.
Brunch with Alysa, right before protecting the doughnuts superseded protecting the phone.
As a result of our two hour stay (oh yes, alone with 3 kids) at the Apple Store on Sunday afternoon and a free fixed phone later, Cullen either learned about the resourcefulness of selective information, or will never believe a rule I give him again.... I'll let you know how that plays out.

*****
So after our busy week with Tina and Co we spent one more night at The Farm with Marme and Papa before heading back in to NOVA to have dinner with Nana and Pop, and Uncle Mike who just got back in town after a few weeks on the West Coast. I didn't take any pictures, but we had a great time catching up and the boys loved playing with Mike, while I loved Nana's awesome dinner (and enough leftovers sent home with us for a meal this week).

Sunday morning, even though we have made it to Mass every week since Kev has been gone, this week, the boys and I opted for a low key morning at home. I let them watch a lot of TV while Wells napped and I did a big cleaning of the house. Then was the excursion to the Apple Store followed by (nap time and then) a walk/bike ride to the library and dinner delivered to us courtesy of my Uncle Pete and Aunt Lori (thank you!).
And then the boys got fired up for some World Cup Soccer, although were confused why tackling wasn't allowed.

All in all a great way to spend a few days- another weekend closer to being reunited with Kev.

Oh, and in case you missed it on instagram (seriously, you should be following... @katedaffodils) Wells finally learned to crawl in the last few days (at 10 and a half months, just like Cullen)

I had a friend that would always so "Do as Mommy Say's not as mommy Does" to her little ones sometimes, it was so funny. At least you got your phone replaces, its crazy how expensive they are now days.

Oh man that's a tough one. I would have been tempted to drop the older ones off at your parents so you didn't have to blow their minds that everyone lies sometimes ;). Man this parenting stuff is hard!

Yeah that's hard... maybe if you explain to him that they make you pay too much in the first place for phones and service he would feel better about it. Love the boys in their USA shirts!

That picture of the three of them in their patriotic shirts is awesome!
Just out of curiosity, was Cullen a late walker too? Adelle didn't crawl until she was around 10.5 months as well and then didn't walk until 16 months. Walker started crawling around the same time and still doesn't want to walk on his own (he just turned 14 months). He walks holding one hand, but is otherwise uninterested. I don't really mind having another late walker, but my arms would maybe like a break ;)

Shelby was sporting her USA gear at school today!!
I dropped my phone a month or so ago and cracked the screen. I've yet to get it fixed b/c I'm cheap and want a 5.

I love the video! Too cute.

Of course I loved the video.

And think of what you told Cullen as more of a "life lesson" verses a lie... that's what I would do. :)

Three kids at the Apple Store for two hours???? Three kids at the Apple Store for any hours??? Actually just going to the Apple Store at all... Ugh! Nice work :)

I think you deserve a little white lie with having 3 kids at the apple store for 2 hours! We had Elyse at the Verizon store for less than hour, with four adults to corral her...and I still needed a nice drink afterwards! ha!

You are my hero, ya know. I'm taking notes on how to handle 3 boys during the day (and clean the house and survive) and you do it so well :)

wow 3 hours in a Apple Store, brave woman! Glad that you got it replaced...that would have been such a bummer! Love that you have so much family supporting you and bringing you food and helping out with the boys, love that!

Love the story about your phone! Sometimes it's best to just omit some information. ;)
Way to go, Wells! He is too cute!

Look at that sweet video of Wells, oh my gosh so cute!! Wow, I would not have lasted half as long in the Apple store as you did, but sounds like it paid off with having a working phone.

Congrats to Wells; he looks like he's having the time of his life getting around on his little hands and feet. I hear your pain about phones. We don't have insurance, so we just had to pay another $300 for a "cheap" replacement phone. They make their money off us for sure.
