Well Hello, Third Trimester

Dear all you lovely people who comment that I don't look 'that pregnant'.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
But it is really because I haven't let you see the full glory of the side shot.

So here you are: Say hello to my 28-weeks-grown bowling ball
It's funny, exactly two years ago, I was packing up a house with a 2 year old, very, very pregnant with another baby and preparing to move across the country. Except that time, the baby came 5 days before the movers, and I was so concerned with how C would react to the move and him getting upset that everything is being packed that I actually sent him home with my mom so he wouldn't have to deal with it.

My, how things have changed. The boys think it is awesome that everything is in boxes. They think the boxes are fun. C drew a picture of himself on an airplane waving 'bye' to California at school yesterday. Bennett could care less, as long as we don't stop him from trying to climb the tallest stack of boxes in the garage.
I am not nervous about moving, or their reactions, or getting acclimated in our new home. And I am most certainly not nervous about this baby coming and how he will fit in to our lives.
Not even a little bit.
I joke (we will go with 'joke' because it sounds bad if i say 'constantly complain') about the fact that while I am eternally grateful for the ability to be, I really don't enjoy being pregnant. I throw up, and whine, and moan, and grunt, and look longingly at my wine cabinet for the majority of the 40 weeks.
But I like 28 weeks because it means that Baby will be here soon. And where I fail at enjoying pregnancy, I make up for in enjoying every second of Motherhood. It is what I was meant to do.
So little man, if you read this one day (because all boys eventually want to read their mother's blog, right?), I am ready for you to join this family. I am sorry you never got to see the Pacific and how crazy your brothers were while we were packing the house. The good news is, in two years I'll probably be typing a similar post to the 4th brother (we'll just assume) in my belly while you run around making cardboard box forts with the other two and we prepare to move again. I am so glad you are going to be part of our next adventure and can't wait to have you in my arms.

I asked C the other day if you were going to have blue eyes like us or green eyes like Daddy. His response: "I don't know Mommy, we can't see him yet." Which is the truth, but I often think about your eyes because one of my favorite moments after delivery will be holding you and watching those eyes carefully blink open and look up, soaking in those first few seconds of this big, big world that has been waiting for you for so long.

Here's to hoping the next few months fly by because I am anxious to meet you.

Keep growing strong Buddy, we will see you soon.
(Thanks again to Cassie for taking these pictures for us!  You can see the pictures I took of her family on my photography facebook page.)

You look pregnant from the side but still great! It's funny, I didn't have the easiest pregnant but I guess since it was my first even though I complained of the pain I didn't think of myself as disliking being pregnant. Then he arrived and it was so amazing that I too think I prefer the mom part to the pregnant part. I guess it's better to be that way considering the relatively short time we are pregnant. Though some days I do miss my belly... Oh how quickly we forget :-)

You look beautiful! What lovely maternity & family photos -- great momentos to look back on when you're on the East Coast.

Wishing you all the best during your pregnancy, labor, & move!

You look beautiful Kate!! The black dress is gorgeous on you and these are all lovely pictures :)
I like what you wrote about not being fond of being pregnant but you make up for it as a mother, I kinda feel like that too. I'd have a tribe of kids by now if I didn't have to wait 9 mths and go through all of the symptoms lol
Good luck with the move! You are so brave for doing this while expecting and leaving everything familiar behind. I wish I was as brave! xo

For anyone who has said to me, "I don't know how you do it!", concerning driving across the continent, sleeping on the floor for weeks, and moving into a new place, I'm just going to point them to your blog.

I admit, I don't want wine all that often, but when I do, I really do. Only 12 more weeks!

Alright, well, now in that picture you do look pregnant, finally. :) However, you still look fantastic and beautiful.

I can't wait to see your new baby boy. He will be precious no doubt. And I like you had no trouble or nervousness about how the new babies would fit into our lives after the second baby. It's part of the joy of having more than two kids!!!! :) It's nice to feel like we know what we are doing. ahahaaha. Take great care,

Shauna xo

Of course your little boy will read your blog someday. ;) That's what I'm telling myself mine will do! Haha. I'm 31 weeks with my second (also a boy), so we're really close. You look beautiful. I'm definitely at the stage where I feel large and gross and appreciate every sweet comment that says: Oh you look fantastic. ;) We're getting close!!! xoxo

You look amazing.

I understand your feelings on the moving thing and the adjusting. I also am in 100% agreeance with you on the pregnancy. I was never one who enjoyed pregnancy...the babies are worth it, but man it's a long 40 weeks!

I have never met anyone so completely born to be a mother - I know I keep saying it but shoot lady, you are amazing! And for all the woes of being pregnant, I just admire you that much more for acknowledging how blessed you are to be able to carry those sweet babies of yours. Can't wait to meet little Three! ((in the meantime, give One and Two hugs and kisses for me!))

Beautiful pictures! You look so amazing! Do you feel like this pregnancy is going faster since you are busy with 2 little ones AND moving? Or slower because it is HARD being pregnant with little kids?!

marie said...

I too utterly FAILED at enjoying pregnancy, but feel like you that I make up for it in spades at how much I love being a mom. You stated that so beautifully.

I love your relaxed attitude. With 3 little ones you have to just roll with the punches.

You look wonderful!! I give you so much credit as it must not be easy to watch your two youngest, be pregnant, pack, and get emotionally ready for another move. I'm glad to hear that the boys are ready for it. What an exciting new chapter for your family and little one number three!
