On Saturday afternoon, we gathered for one last big party with our Monterey friends for my two big boys. Cullen's 4th birthday was Monday and Bennett will be 2 on June 5th, and since our movers start packing us on Friday (!!!) we decided to combine their party for a fun celebration.
Technically, their theme was Cars but aside from their bright colored polos and a Lighten McQueen birthday sign, the theme was actually pizza, cupcakes and playground, just the way the pre-pinterest world intended.
Just up the street from our house, we have this amazing community center that we can rent free of charge. We had the party here last year too and are thankful for such a large space, with an easy clean up, for our family friends to enjoy.
After pizza and play, we gathered to sing Happy Birthday. B went for the cupcake before the candle.
Our friend Kelly came down from San Francisco and we were so happy to see her one more time before we return to the East Coast.
I realized as we were leaving that I didn't get a family picture...this was the best we could do.

And when we got home, two spoiled boys opened some pretty thoughtful gifts.
On Monday, Cullen's actual birthday (as he kept telling us) we had a great day too. He brought brownies and watermelon to school, got a Happy Meal for lunch, went to another friend's birthday party in the afternoon, then came home for repeat cupcakes and candle,
(clearly, B prefers joint celebrations)
followed by his birthday surprise: a big boy bike!
All in all, a perfect way to celebrate my beautiful boys (and I didn't even share that we had a shower for Baby 3 on Friday...more on that tomorrow).
I know I say it all the time, but we are so blessed in our little life, from our supportive friends, you lovely blog readers and our loving family (Cullen told me Monday night that 'lots of peoples from Ba-ginia keep calling today!), I couldn't ask for more. I am so proud of my boys, Kev and our little one on the way, it makes my heart soar that so many people love them too.

Isn't life grand! I love some "pre-Pinterest" parties... Kids could really care less about all that stuff! Looks like it was a fabulous party with some very happy boys!
Great party, looks like lots of fun!
Wonderful pictures.
PS: i totally would have taken a cupcake before the singing!
There's still parties for toddlers without monogrammed napkins?? I thought such things had gone extinct. :). Pizza and cupcakes sounds good to me!
Good luck wrapping up life in CA, and that's a great family picture.
So, when do you guys actually leave to move back East?
Looks like a wonderful celebration for your two boys! And a free community center? Nice!
Looks like a wonderful time was had by all. I can see that bike is going to get plenty of use at the farm. Enjoy your last few days
Look at him on that big boy bike! I think he aged right there on that picture, just getting up on that bike...he looks so much bigger to me now!
I personally love that family picture. Love the look on your face...priceless. What a great joint party!
Looks like an awesome party! Love that family picture.
sometimes I think the pre-Pinterest world was so much better...so much simpler!
looks like a fabulous party & celebration of your boys!
So much fun! Pinterest bday parties are out of control. Clearly your boys were plenty pleased with cupcakes and playing!
Such an amazing party and time with special friends. :)
I love your family picture. That's the best kind. Because that's the true family - personalities and all.
I need to remember to get more family pictures!
Hey guess what?? My birthday is June 5th too! I can't believe it's coming up! :) I love all of the pictures and you are so lucky to have such great friends. I can't remember exactly when you are moving but it sounds like it's very soon. Hope you are feeling well, you look great. Love the picture of your family and you looking at your husband and laughing, so cute. Take care,
Shauna
Sounds like fun! Happy birthday to the boys and best of luck with the upcoming move!
Its hard to find such great friends in the military life style with moving around so much but you've def. got a good group of forever friends there. I know they'll miss you as much as you'll miss them. The boys looked like they had a wonderful birthday celebration.
Fun. Those cupcakes look amazing.
Everybody looks like they're having so much fun!
Happy Happy Birthdays! Looks like a perfect day for your sweet boys. And now I want a cupcake.
