An Outfit A Day (almost) This Month

Inspired by Kristin (and her Outfit a Day in May) and the positive response from my first What I Wore post, I decided to keep track of my outfits from the past month (ish).

I mentioned a while back that my summer uniform is sundresses and here is your proof:
Dress: Francesa's, Scarf from my friend Laura/
Dress: Old Navy, Necklace: My late Aunt Jean's, Water stain in the middle: I have 3 boys/
Earrings: from Jenn, Dress: Target Maternity- am I the only one who still comfortably wears maternity clothes all the time? Because mine get rocked on a weekly basis
Techinally a cover up that I decided could be a dress from Top It Off, Earrings:Francesa's/
Dress: Old Navy, Shoes: Jessica Simpson, Necklace: from my almost sister in law/
Dress:Target, Scarf: from Lauren, belt: ON, shoe-less baby: mine
I rarely wear shorts, so cropped jeans are my choice for summer. Jeans: Jcrew- black shirt: target maternity/
Green shirt: Motherhood Maternity (was clearly not lying about loving my comfy maternity wear) /
same cover up-made dress from a few days ago, sans belt and with a long necklace
My black maternity shirt again, jeans, target shoes and my new favorite Red Bandana Scarf from none other but the best gift giver ever: Lauren/
I love it so much, I wore it again the next day/
tank top: ON, Necklace: from my sis in law for her bridesmaid gift- I wear it all the time (and am wearing it in the previous picture too)
At the Farm all day in another cover up from Top It Off and what I look like without my abundance of under eye concealer and mascara- yikes/
Maxi: Just got it for $22 from ON and it is definitely a favorite, necklace: same little gold one from my sis in law/
 Dress: Target

Two outfits I forgot to take pics of during the day: first dress from TJMaxx and second from Old Navy/
And finally, a sweatpants Sunday look: Kev's sweatpants, Kev's Tshirt, a Homegoods pillow and a blog post.

So that is it- my summer look in a few pictures.
What are your go to summer staples?

What I Wore

A few weeks ago, Rachel asked: Aaand how do you stay so put together?

Here's the deal: If I am wearing sweatpants, I act like I am in sweatpants. I am not one of those fashionable work out clothes people. I have one pair of sneakers that I bought 4 years ago and I am thinking really hard about where they might be right now and I have no idea. I can't rock workout gear and feel confident and put together. So, I have to get dressed every morning.
My style is pretty simple and functional being that I am home with 3 boys all day. It is not too dressy but not super casual. There is nothing hip or experimental about it.
I shower at night and I have 3 different hair do's I can transform a wet bun into every morning. My make up routine takes about 5 minutes (but I never leave the house without it on). I always wear earrings and my nails are always painted.

To give a good example of my style, I documented the past week's worth of outfits to share.

Friday: It was rainy and kind of cool. And this is hair style #1 (seen the majority of the time. I have a 9 month old hair puller)

scarf: from Lauren/ shirt: Target/ Tank: Old Navy/ Leggins: H&M/ Shoes: Kev's aunt's store in NYC/ Earrings: Lila Sophia
Saturday: My brother's graduation. Wells was covering up the outfit in yesterday's picture, but this is what I wore.
Earrings: Gift/ Necklace: Target/ Dress: Loft/ Shoes: Jessica Simpson from TJMaxx
Sunday: This is the only pair of shorts I own, I usually wear a jean skirt with an outfit like this, but when Chelsie lived with us, she always looked so cute in shorts, so I am thinking about bringing them into my wardrobe.
And this is Hair do #2, which Bennett randomly hates. He always pushes the braid back behind my shoulder. And even though I've been wearing my hair in a side braid for 10 years, just the other day Cullen said "Mommy, if you are trying to look like Princess Elsa, it's not working because she has pretty blonde hair." Thanks, kid.
Scarf: Target/Sweater: Old Navy/ shorts: Gap/ Shoes: Target
Monday: Hair do #3 and a pretty new scarf from my friend Cate.

My makeup routine: aboundant amounts of under eye concealer, a little powder, neutral shadow, mascara. Done.
Sometimes I wear black eyeliner on the top lids too, but apparently not this week.
All drugstore brand stuff.
Scarf: Ann Taylor/ Necklace: Gift from my sis in law/ Shirt: Target/ Jeans: J. crew

Tuesday: I had pink eye and I couldn't see and I was grumpy..I wore jeans and a blue vneck from Target.

Wednesday: Looks fancy but feels like sweatpants?
Say hello to my best friend, the maxi dress (while shopping at Francesa's for something new, no luck.)
Dress: TJMaxx (I have it in red too)/ Earrings: Francesa's/ Pink Eye: Cullen's/ Little Fuzz Head on the floor: Mine/ Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff, a gift from my friend Cate (she is so good to me!) and proof that by the third child, you keep a diaper in the glove compartment and only bring a clutch  to hold your wallet, phone and chapstick with you everywhere else
Thursday: Cullen's pre-K graduation.
Dress and Belt: Old Navy/ Necklace: My future sis in law/ Earrings: Francesa's/ Also- my scarf collection.

So that is how I stay put together. It is worth taking the 20 minutes out every morning (usually while Wells naps and the boys are watching their morning TV) so I can get dressed and start the day on the right foot to seem like I have it all under control.

What are your go-to style secrets?

Friday Party

Today marks the 100th link party for {av's} Friday Fancies and I knew I had to join the party. About a year ago, I stumbled upon this link up and it changed my blogging experience. Before this, I didn't understand that a link up really did grow your blog, help find like-minded bloggers and potentially form long-lasting friendships. Now, a year later at almost 300 followers (see that 298 over there-->, you know you want to round it up, don't you?), I embraced how amazing the blogging community is and I have {av} to thank for that.

It only seems right that I participate in the Friday Fancies Party this  week. Here is what I would wear to celebrate {av} and all our blogger friends.
FF 100

FF 100 by kklarrabee featuring plastic jewelry
1. How beautiful is this BARBARELLA gold party dress, $160. I definitely think it is something I could wear again and again.

2. As the weather gets cooler, a pretty trench is also essential and this Wallis black coat does the job.

3. I don't think I really need to explain these Steve Madden pointy toe shoes

4. Finally, let's top this look off with a pretty Statement necklace, $43, some earrings, Plastic jewelry, and a toast  Luigi Bormioli Michelangelo Champagne Flute, Set of 4.

Congrats {av} to 100 weeks of style!
Bennett is excited for us too.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

It's Here + A Giveaway

College football has officially started. And now, it is my favorite time of year.
So I made some Auburn-inspired bathroom art for the boys yesterday.
Much more navy in person!
And hung an orange wreath on the door.
Put out some coffee table flare.
Made my chili and drank red wine from an Auburn glass (y'all, it is fall year-around in Monterey, we actually get the choice to embrace it while everyone else is wishing for it! I also wore jeans and boots today and was totally okay with it.)
And lastly, created the perfect game day outfit for Friday Fancies. Even Clay Travis agrees: a sundress and boots are perfect.

So in honor of my favorite season, I'd like to offer a mystery box giveaway (inspired by my dear friend Martha). All you have to do is be a public follower of Daffodils and leave a comment telling me what is your favorite part of fall. Then, next Friday, I'll announce a winner and send you a box of goodies, which will most likely involve nail polish, a Starbuck's gift card, and orange and blue earrings (because, you know, my life goal is to make everyone an Auburn fan).

Good Luck, Happy Weekend, and WAR EAGLE!

Friday Fancies: Let's Go to Greece

It has been a while since I linked up with {av} at Long Distance Loving for Friday Fancies, and I loved her prompt this week to take a European vacation, so I am bringing it back.
Speaking of bringing it back, here are some scrapbook pictures from the last time I went to Europe. (You know, scrapbooking, that time when you didn't know what the pictures looked like until you picked them up from CVS two days later? And then cut up said pictures to create a collage?)

My high school sponsered a Spring Break trip every year and my sophomore year, I was lucky enough to go on a 10 day trip to Greece. We spent 3 days in Athens, then took a 7 day cruise to several different islands. I will never forget it. However, as a 16 year old, I feel like I maybe didn't appreciate the country as much as I should have and I would love to go back with Kev one day.

So instead of my sweet sneakers and shorts look from 2000, I have upped my style to a date night look for an evening in Mikonos.

Greece

This high-low Dorothy Perkins green dress is perfect for a classy island feel.  And paired with Lilly Pulitzer wedge heels, I'd be ready to walk around and explore or go dancing. I'd need a big enough bag to hold my camera and this Quilted tote bag does the trick. Lastly, some pretty accessories like: Miso set of bangle, $7.80 / Blu Bijoux tear drop earrings / Essie nailpolish /

Where is the best place in Europe you have visited? Where is one place you want to go?

Hope you have a great weekend!

Friday Fancies: Memorial Day

Happy Friday, my friends! Do you have plans for the long weekend? My sister in law, Katie arrived from DC yesterday and will be here to hang out with us for a few days, then be a life saver and help the boys and I journey back to the East Coast next week. This is her first trip to CA, so we have so much to do with her; from hitting up the beach, shopping in Carmel and wine tasting in Carmel Valley, I'm going to need a cute and casual outfit for this weekend's activities.
FF: Memorial Day

1. I am SO in love with this Knee length dress, $58 from Etsy.

2. Classic Jack Rogers sandals would be a nice change up from my usual Rainbows.

3. A big bag like this Marc by Marc Jacobs marc jacobs tote, £165 for important things like diapers and wine glasses.

4. AK Anne Klein chain link necklace, $85

5. A little punch of color, Pieces flower earrings, $8.70

6. And this Butter London nail lacquer, $14.

Finally,as much as fun as it is to get a summer-ready outfit together, please do not forget the purpose of this holiday weekend.

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, make sure you stop and remember those who died in order to protect our freedom and pray for those who are fighting endlessly to preserve it.

Happy Memorial Day and Thank You to all who serve!

Friday Fancies: Chambray Love

Happy Friday, y'all. Thanks for all your awesome comments on yesterday's goals. It was so interesting to hear what you have planned for your future.

Now, on to some Friday Fancies.

Have you hopped on board with the chambray shirt? I did last fall and rock my shirt with my green skinnies, colored shorts or a khaki skirt. It is a great, easy look that still looks put together and chic. But since Friday Fancies is all about what we dream of wearing, I decided to show you an outfit with chambray that I am by no means cool enough to wear, but wish I could.
FF

Let's chat about things in this outfit I am not cool enough for:

1. Clothes by j.crew. I can't afford them (since my goal is to not go back to work, I'm shopping at Old Navy these days).
2. Lace Shorts. These are so pretty and feminine. I wish I was comfortable in shorts, but my two-kids-later thighs are not happy showing off this part of my body.
3. A fedora. I look silly in hats, for real.

Be sure to check out the other Fancies at Long Distnace Loving.

What are you up to this weekend? We have a joint birthday party for the boys this afternoon (Bennett's bday in June 5th) and don't have else specific after that. But you can be sure that there will be some cute pictures on Monday.

Friday Fancies: Kentucky Derby

Happy Friday, my darlings!
The end of the week is upon us and even though the past few weeks I have been sharing the 'get real' version of motherhood, this week I had to take a break and rejoin Friday Fancies to create an outfit for the Kentucky Derby. Who doesn't love an excuse to dress up and have a fancy cocktail?
FF pastel

1. I am so loving a maxi dress and isn't this (Jane Norman maxi dress, £65) just perfect? I would wear this constantly, not just on Derby Day.

2. You really can't go wrong with wedges and  the Nine West t strap sandals, $89 have the right vibe and price.

3. The Longchamp tote bag, $98 is quite possibly the best investment ever. I got mine as a gift from some students I hosted in 2008. I still use my bag daliy, it is amazing.

4. And the accesories:  Aqua crystal jewelry, $28, Kendra scott earrings, $70, Noel Stewart wide brim straw hat, $315.

Are you celebrating the Kentucky Derby or Cinco de Mayo? Have you embraced the maxi trend?

Hope your weekend has a lot of moments like this
PS I am hosting a give a way over at A Softer Side of Strong. Go get yourself some pictures!

Friday Fancies: Pretty in Pastel

Happy Friday, Friends! Thanks for all your questions yesterday, y'all had some good ones (and it is not too late to ask, just leave a comment here and I'll answer them next week).

I have taken a few weeks off from Friday Fancies, but decided to jump back in today to celebrate spring's pretty pastels. I've craving a weekend away with just the hubby (some really place warm) and I would love to go out on a fancy date in something like this.
FF pastel

How pretty is this dressAlice Olivia wrap dress, €215 ? I am so on board with maxi dresses this year and I love the romanic look of this one.
Head over to Long Distance Loving for more Pastel Pretties.

What are you up to this weekend? Hope you have a great one!

Friday Fancies: St Patty's Day Special

O Friday, I am glad you are here again. Will you be celebrating St Patrick's Day? We have a few friends coming over for corned beef and cabbage and of course, some green beers. The outfit I created for Friday Fancies is almost exactly what I plan on wearing tomorrow.

St Pattys Day

1. I bought a pair of smiliar skinnies (Skinny jeans, $76) from Old Navy yesterday for $25 and I can't wait to wair them. The ON 'rockstar' skinnies come in a fantastic array of colors, but true to some other blogger reviews, they do run really small, so don't be suprised to go up a size or two if you go get yourself some.

2. Since my pants are pretty loud, I am pairing them with a basic white T like this (Precis Petite cap sleeve t shirt, £19)

3. I love the idea of pairing this outfit with a jean jacket (Rag bone jean jacket, $265) but I got rid of mine after college. I will probably wear a black cardi instead.

4. I'll be topping my St Patty's Day ensemble off with black pumps (House of Harlow 1960 black pumps, $250), some fun green earrings (Juicy Couture yellow gold stud earrings, $21), a scarf (Linen shawl, $20) and pretty mint nails (Essie nail polish, $8).
In other news, we went to the aquarium yesterday.

Just had to share.

Also,

Happy Birthday to my darling friend, Cate!

and

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend.

Friday Fancies: Daytona

While most people are glamming it up on Friday Fancies for the Oscars this Sunday, I have another event on my mind.

Daytona. The first time I went to Daytona, I was 15 and I thought my dad was waking me up for school, until we got in the car and started driving the wrong way for 12 hours. He had surprised me with a trip to the race for the weekend. Totally normal Daddy-Daughter date right? We had a blast. I've been back once, with the hubs in 2010 and I would love to do it again. So on Sunday, while every one else is watching the red carpet on E!, I'll be getting my classy-redneck on and watching America's great race.

Trust me, this outfit was not complete without beer!

What are you up to this weekend? Have you ever been to a race?

Friday Fancies: Let's Fly Away

Happy Friday! Was this week long or what? From Bennett's first ear infection to helping Cullen overcome his paci withdrawal and looking forward to our good friends coming in from the East Coast today, I thought Friday would never get here. Luckily, Bennett is on the ups, Cullen's naptimes are getting easier and Chris and Katie will finally be here this afternoon!
{av}'s link up for Friday Fancies was to Fly Away and I have to admit, I had a lot of fun with this one. I have dreamed of going to Paris ever since my first French class in high school. I also wanted to study abroad in college but just couldn't make it happen, even though I did minor in the language. Then for Christmas in 2010, Kev and I had grand plans on hopping on a military Space-A flight to Germany and spending a few days in France, but as we were boarding the plane, we were bumped and ended up at a resort in Pennsylvania. So as it is, I have never made it to France. Naturally, it had to be the place to inspired my Friday Fancies outfit.
