Friday Fancies: Daytona

While most people are glamming it up on Friday Fancies for the Oscars this Sunday, I have another event on my mind.

Daytona. The first time I went to Daytona, I was 15 and I thought my dad was waking me up for school, until we got in the car and started driving the wrong way for 12 hours. He had surprised me with a trip to the race for the weekend. Totally normal Daddy-Daughter date right? We had a blast. I've been back once, with the hubs in 2010 and I would love to do it again. So on Sunday, while every one else is watching the red carpet on E!, I'll be getting my classy-redneck on and watching America's great race.

Trust me, this outfit was not complete without beer!

What are you up to this weekend? Have you ever been to a race?

Really adorable outfit! I love how it's casual and cute at the same time. You'd definitely be turning some heads at Daytona in that number! :) PS- A beer mug is the perfect accessory!

LOL What a fun surprise! I've never been to a race before (SHOCKER, right?), but a girl I went to college with was from Talledega (she pronounced it "Tahla-DEE-guh") and that cracked me up. :)

And, as always, cute outfit. :)

Have fun watching, and I love the outfit! Thanks for your comment on my post yesterday, too. I had no idea about the a "no reply" tag and will have to look into why it's showing up that way, since I definitely want everyone to be able to email me. I think it's great that you've been able to maintain such a strong bond with the Church and do what works for you personally. I used to be a stronger participant when I was younger, but my relationship with the Church has become really strained over the past few years for a number of reasons. Some of the attitudes surrounding the recent contraception debate have basically pushed me to feel I need to leave it behind completely, which is hard since I have always felt that the Church is a part of my personal history and heritage, even though I've disagreed on certain things and haven't actively practiced of late. Hopefully, I'll have my post ready to go by next week to share more of my current feelings.

Love the jacket! I also chose to dress it down this Friday - no Oscars for me!

P.S. - I saw you were on {av}'s "Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder" series on Wednesday. Your story is so inspiring - and the photos of you and your hubby are adorable! I'm hoping to be featured on there one day; it's one of my favorite blogging series. :)
