Let's Talk Business

A few questions:

1. What is the deal with Google Friend Connect going away? It is just leaving wordpress or other non-blogger sites or going away completely? I use GFC on my page and anywhere else I follow, so if it goes away, I am not going to be sad. Anyone else concerned about this?

2. Are we on board with Google+? Blogger keeps encouraging me to keep a profile on there, but I have not jumped on yet. What is the advantage? Are any other bloggers using it?

3. Can someone puh-lease tell me which (blogger) template they use to make their pictures big? I am still in an old interface layout and every time I go to change it, I get overwhelmed and then worry I won't like it. But I know I am in need of a new layout and I really want my pictures to be bigger, so I just need someone to lead me in a fool-proof direction.

4. Do you notice the trend here? I am officially getting old and don't like when technology changes it up on me. Somebody please call google (and Mark Zuckerberg for that matter) and tell them to stop changing websites I am comfortable with. I'll spare you the details about my fear of twitter.

Thanks in advance :)

plus to google+ (pun intended) is anything you post on there becomes searchable on google. if you post a DIY how to on potting plants and someone searches "how to pot plants" you'd show up in their search under the personal search section.

Ooh I will be checkin' back on the comments for this one! Every time Blogger asks me to change to their updated format, I'm like, "LALALALALALALA it won't ever change! I'm staying the format I know! LALALALA!"

But I guess one day the "old" option won't be there, so I need to suck it up and learn about all of these new things.

And I don't understand if I'm even on GFC. One day I will log in and have no blogs to read. LOL

Oh..my. I hear you about all of the above. I have no idea.
BUT, as for making your pictures bigger, I would suggest going to your Template and adjusting the width of your blog. You might have to also adjust the length of your header, but it shouldn't be too hard.

Then, when you download a picture, it should be easier to size it accordingly. That's my VERY simple tip...and I'm more than sure that there are better ones out there. For this not-so-tech-saavy lady, that's the best I am coming up with now. (I'm trying to change my look as well).

I hadn't heard that about GFC, but I will also be very annoyed if it goes away! I struggle with making my pictures bigger, too. I went to a new template last year, and it's still an issue.

I am still trying to figure our what's going on with GFC. That is how I follow blogs so without it I'm in trouble :(

I have noticed that too! Not sure why they would get rid of it! Very frustrating.

If GFC goes away I'll be so disappointed. That's how I follow all the blogs!

I can't get into my blog because blogger says that it is no longer supported by my browser. It says to try Google Chrome....whatever that is....I am very weary of having to learn something new AGAIN. It shouldn't be this hard to have fun with a blog!
I agree with Cynthia above on a way to enlarge photos. I figured that one out in the advanced layout options. (Double yay older lady me)

I don't get the GFC going away either?! It makes me sad.... :( And I think to make pictures bigger you just make them x-large but you have to make sure you are using a high enough resolution so that when they are blown up they don't become super blurry! And hahahaha... I agree with the stop changing things! Facebook seems to change monthly & I just want everything else to stay the same! And thank you for the sweet comments on the shoot I was in! :) You are very sweet!!!

Have a great day & good luck to figuring all this madness out... fingers crossed GFC stays & it's just all a big rumor!! Because I am not a fan of Google +

Here's my two cents:
1) From what I've read, GFC will NOT be leaving Blogger, because Blogger is powered by Google. So it's really a concern for those on WP.

2) You can switch back and forth between the new Blogger dashboard and old Blogger dashboard with the click of a button. So don't worry that if you try the interface, you'll never be able to go back. That's not the case.

3) As for Google+, I'm pretty stumped on that one. I feel like I have too much already between FB, Blogger, and Twitter!

4) There are plenty of websites that provide free Blogger templates. Maybe you should try one of those? Most will have a wider column for posting, which should help with making your pictures larger.

Hi Kate! I just heard about the going away of GFC yesterday with other blogger, and I felt sad about it, hope it won't happen, how can we follow other blogger if that will happen, so to be able to follow them and to follow us, we must have our Facebook,Twitter, RSS and other site widgets here at blog too, in this case if GFC will go away we still have other way to follow each others blog.:)

Wonderful day Kate!:) God bless! :)

Hey! So I learned this tip from Sal at Already Pretty. If you first upload your photos to a free flickr account, you can then choose from various sizes automatically, then copy and paste the code for whichever size you want into your post.

It's as simple as this:

upload your photo(s)
click on uploaded photo
click on "share" above photo
select "grab html code"
pick your size
copy and paste

with the added bonus of all your images being collected in a flickr album

when you figure out the answer to all of these questions, please let me know:) I may or may not be able to help you with your pictures?! I'm not sure if I know or not! haha.

Your questions frighten me, as I'd LOVE to know the answers to them also :) I'm hopeless with most technology.

I'm right there with ya on the fear of Twitter! I refuse to give in! ;) Not sure about GFC or Google plus, but I would say to get your pictures bigger you need your layout to be wider. Makincuteblogs.com has some good tutorials you might try!

I must admit, I´m growing quite tired of Google and its eternal changes. I mean, I feel like every day there is something that´s changing, and it´s rarely for the best! I´m so pissed off with Picnik closing (I was using it to work with my photos, it was far easier than Photoshop). Bref, Google is creeping on me :) I heard about GFC and I think it´s only going away from other platforms, not Blogger, so we should be ok. I´m not using Google+ (for reasons, see above :) I´m using Ethereal template for my blog, and I customized it a little bit, but it really is easy and fun, you should try it. Then, you could also have bigger pictures. At the same time, you don´t have to change anything more than the template, for starters, and then if you feel like it, you can play around more :)
And pretty please, don´t be afraid of Twitter, it´s really so much fun, and it´s not difficult at all!

Whew :)

Happy Wednesday!

i'm tired of all the changes, too! right as i being to get comfortable with something, it's completely changed & i'm lost! i do like the new blogger interface, though, once i took the time to find my way around.

you should totally invest in a twitter account though - i absolutely adore it.

Getting all caught up here.. I hope GFC doesn't go away! *Fingers crossed* You should get on Twitter! I was so confused and terrified of it at the beginning, but it all starts to make sense pretty quickly....And if you are on Twitter, then we can be Twitter friends, which puts us one step closer to being real-life friends...which is fantastic ;) If you're still having trouble with making pictures bigger after all these comments, let me know. I just updated my own blog and I'd be happy to help you out! xo, eliza

Oh girl... you are ahead of me with all this Google+ talk! (When did we get old?!) I have to keep a twitter account for our non-profit and I am always afraid I'm doing something wrong! Still haven't figured out how to retweet things the way everyone else does... agh! haha!
