Exposure Lessons

I am also over at Matters of Style today, sharing a trip around Monterey for their travel series. I am so excited to be posting there because it was one of the first blogs I ever read.
Go check it out!
**********
For Christmas, my mom got me an online photography course and I have so been enjoying learning more about the functions of my camera. This week in particular, I learned how to manually adjust my exposure, and can't believe the difference, especially on interior shots, which I am not very good at.

Here is what I would normally shoot. Flash turned off (I rarely use my flash anymore).
Exposure at negative 1. Too dark.
 Positive 1.3- too bright
Positive 0.7- O, hello handsome baby.
Anyone else as excited as me that I learned this? No? I'm a huge nerd and this is painfully uninteresting?

At least worth sharing since you got to see cute pictures of Bennett right? :)

What are you learning these days?

I seriously can't get over that boy's eyes!

What class is it that you're taking? I'm dying to learn more about my DSLR, to really put it to full use but I get so overwhelmed that I don't know where to start. I'd love to hear more about an actual class!

Hope you guys are having a great week (and that little man is feeling better!)

Great photo, and congrats on learning how to make it work just right! I'm still not a photography whiz, though my husband is pretty good. Lately, I'm continuing to learn tons of stuff about the publishing industry in my grad classes. I get frustrated with the assignments at times, since I'm really ready to graduate at this point, but I definitely try to see the value in everything I learn.

That's a huge difference! I am really needing a new camera-my point and click is not cutting it anymore now that I'm back to blogging.

I wish I had the same interest as you do as far as learning about my camera. I have no idea what any of that stuff means and always just use auto focus!

That looks great! Always fun to learn something so useful about the camera! What sort of online class is it? I have been wanting to take a class, but cannot fathom finding the time to leave the house (alone! ha!) to go somewhere and take one. And while I don't use the flash (or photoshop because I am dumb as rocks), my pictures turn out mediocre at best.

Cute cute boy!!

Oh, I can not use my camera AT ALL. Every single picture I take is on auto focus, and on the same settings. I'm sure I could take WAAAYY better pictures if I'd just learn how to use the darn thing! : )

Can you please come teach me?! I have the hardest time indoors with the flash turned off. I don't know where that setting is or if I even have it!?
