We Made It

O cross country air travel, what it is with you and me?

The family and I arrived to the small and convenient Monterey Airport at 10:30am yesterday morning for an 11:30 flight to San Fran, followed by a 1:30 flight to DC. Perfect right? Right.

Until the first delay happened: flight will now leave at 12:00pm.
Bring out the lollipops.
And then the second delay: flight leaves at 12:45 and we will miss our connection.
Play in the air vent.
Find out the only flight out from San Fran with room is at 4:30. With a 12:40am arrival. To Baltimore.
I feel you, boys.
Finally get on our Monterey flight at 2pm. B falls asleep for the 30 minute flight and was not happy to be woken up. Two hour layover in San Fran. Quick instagram (Katedaffodils) request for prayer that the next 5 hours would be smooth (thank you for those!)
Our seats for the Baltimore flight weren't together, but the man who was sitting next too us took one look at Snotty, Cougher, and Frazzled was happy to switch with Kev. Then thankfully, B made a friend with a baby across the aisle and played with him until he later fell asleep for most of the flight. Meanwhile, C got his own set of headphones and personal Direct TV. We decided not to care how much he watched and he more or less ignored us for the next several hours. He thought it was so amazing. He came out of the zone to eat, play a new magnetic fishing game and to go to the fun airplane bathroom a few times.

My dad was a saint and drove all the way to Baltimore in the middle of the night to pick us up and thankfully our luggage arrived as well. We finally got back to my parent's condo at 2am. Clearly a big glass of wine was had upon arrival.

It was all worth it in the morning though when we remembered that it is real fall here.

And the boys got to go see their Papa and uncles at the shop. A highlight of every trip back east.

Thanks for all your well wishes. Considering all the delays, the boys really did well and we were grateful to make it back home. We can't wait to spend the next two weeks with our families and friends!

That air vent photo is too much! I love it! And you gotta do what you gotta do on flights. Trenton gets in the zone too. Charlotte was apparently born into the wrong era because she prefers to scrap the headphones and go the silent movie route!

Wow. The boys are such troopers to make it through all of that. I think I would have been very cranky at that point!
