How nice was this short week? We are definitely still getting back on track after our month out of town, so I was happy to have Kev home in the middle of the week as we ease back into our normal routine.
On Wednesday, Bennett stole the show with this ensemble
But after a large piece of watermelon and a Slurpee, outfit #1 needed to be traded in for a gingham jon-jon. We went downtown for a bit to the 'Party on the Plaza', which wasn't quite as festive as we hoped, but was still fun for getting out of the house for a bit.
B worked on his walking skills all over the patio, while we listened to some music and had a beer.
The sun disappeared in the afternoon, leaving us with a freezing 4th. Heaters, blankets and jackets? Why Monterey, why?
We had a little bbq in a common area of our neighborhood. Before we left for VA, many of our friends ended their time in Monterey and had moved, but thankfully a bunch of awesome people moved right in and our group of friends expanded quickly.
The kids ran around
the daddies watched and drank some beers
and played a little bit too.
And the ladies posed for a patriotic picture.
I've always held the 4th dear in my heart because it is the first time I ever met Kev (at his parents' house, 10 years ago, eek!) and it was the 4th that brought us back together in 2005 while he was home on R and R from Iraq; we began emailing for the remainder of the tour and the rest is history. So despite the cold weather and the fact that Monterey has a fireworks ban, all in all, it was a great day of celebration with old and new friends.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Any fun plans?

I envy the weather you had! It was a whopping 101 + heat index (so about 105 or so) here in Iowa!
Bennett's outfit was adorable. Looks like you guys had a great time!!
All of your friends are so stylish! Love that y'all have a group to hang out with. And you clearly did not get enough of the heat wave over the last month if you are not thankful for cold weather in July! FOR SHAME, KATE.
I'm glad you had fun, despite the cold! Have a fabulous weekend!

I love Bennett's outfit! What a sweet, handsome boy. Also, can we talk about these arm muscles of yours?
Scott and I spent our first 4th together in St. Louis and it was wonderful. And now we've had 3 cloudy 55* 4ths in Alaska.
I take it back. Last year I saw the sun.
Great pictures! I love the festive clothing :)
