We Made It

Here's how it went:

An 8 hour trek home from the beach on Saturday

One last afternoon with my family (more pictures HERE)

An hour and a half car ride to the airport yesterday

Five hour plane trip with no sleeping preschooler and a 24 pound deadweight on my arm for several hours

A sprint through the San Fran airport, only to be told that the boarding doors for our connecting flight were closed already (Cue the tears and then bless the United employee, flight attendent and pilot who reopened them and held the main cabin doors so we could still get on.)

19 minute hopper into Monterey (Mommy, I see our ocean!)

Greetings by our awesome friends Traci and Steven who not only picked us up, but watched our dog for 2 weeks and left cupcakes on the counter

Paperwork for 2 lost carseats, a stroller and our largest bag

Short drive up the 1 (United provided us with carseats for the trip until ours show back up)

Two boys in their own beds (after a month of being in the same room with at least one of them, but many a night with all 4 of us in one room)

One comfy couch and a cocktail.

My own bed.

Today:

Kev back to school

Unpacking

Getting boys back on schedule (hello, 4:45 wake up from a certain 3 year old who felt like it was 7:45)

Groceries

Jeans and a sweater

It is good to be home.

I love that they left cupcakes on the counter for you. So sweet! Love that feeling of relaxing after a vacation. Nothing beats it.

Wow, what a wild trip home! It's a bummer they lost some of your luggage, but amazing that they actually reopened the doors for you to board your flight. I've never heard of them doing that before!

Wow. You just described why I only go home once a year. Traveling hassles galore! Minus the kid part, of course.
