*Stick with me.
First up, this week's photography challenge at A Step in the Journey was to find something orange. I found mine earlier this week at the Farmer's Market. Isn't orange such a fantastic color?
Next, on the way home from the playground yesterday I asked C if he wanted to bake some cookies and without missing a beat, he look at me and said "No Mommy, let's make doughnuts." It was so random that I had to oblige. I found this super easy recipe and doughnut-making we did.
Ingredients:
-Refrigerated biscuits
-cinnamon
-vegetable oil
-butter
-sugar (not flour, as the picture states. Sorry, realized too late to take another. Sad thing is, C kept asking me when we were going to mix in the flour and I kept telling him that we don't need flour, it's sugar. This is of course, not as bad the as the sugar vs. salt incident. And moving on...)
1. Pop open the biscuits and cut out doughnut holes. We used a bottle cap because we are resourceful like that. Heat a pan full of vegetable oil on medium high while you are doing this so it gets good and hot.
2. Fry up the biscuits until golden-brown on either side.
3. Mix together the cinnamon and sugar.
4. Dip the doughnut in melted butter (hey, I never claimed this was healthy).
5. Then dip in the buttered doughnut in cinnamon-sugar.
6. Yum.
And finally for today, after we were done making doughnuts and C's imagination was running wild (I'm sure it wasn't the sugar intake), I found him building a little house with his blocks at the end of a runaway train track. He said the trains wrecked into a barber shop, so the barber put shaving cream on their faces. (It does this in one of his books). Then his eyes lit up: Mommy, can I have some of Daddy's sha-bing cream?
